*Please note – The number of days of face-to-face practical training and assessment is determined for each individual learner based on a pre-screening assessment and how each person meets the pre-requisite requirements. For those who do not meet all the pre-requisites or require further training as determined during the pre-screening by your assessor, there may be additional face to face training (Up to 40 Hours) or workplace learning in the industry (Up to 120 hours) to meet the volume of learning for this qualification. Students have up to 12 months from the date of enrolment to complete this qualification

Split System Course Purpose

The UEE20120 – Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is a training course for electricians and 3rd and 4th year electrical apprentices looking to up skill and expand their formal qualifications. The UEE20120 – Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is a training course for electricians and 3rd and 4th year electrical apprentices looking to up skill and expand their formal qualifications.


As a leading RTO, Get Skilled Training offers recognised air conditioning courses Brisbane and Queensland wide that comply with current Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) licencing requirements. 


This course satisfies the requirements for workers to apply for a Refrigerant Handling Licence with the Australian Refrigeration Council.


The Brisbane air conditioning course includes training that can be applied to wall hung, floor and ceiling suspended, cassette and ducted fan coil systems and water heating heat pump systems.


Please note that this training does not include competencies required for service, repair, maintenance, diagnostic/fault finding and electrical work, or the safe and proper installation of commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump plant and equipment. In completing this course, you are open to to further studies that allow for additional qualifications. For more information, see our Career Pathways section below. 


Course Prerequisites

  • A licensed electrician holding a current Electrical Work Licence
  • A qualified plumber or gas fitter interested in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  • A 3rd or 4th electrical apprentice who has successfully completed the units of competency outlined in the first year of an electrotechnology apprenticeship and has at least two years of industry experience
  • For non-electrical workers – Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is offered if you have a trade qualification in plumbing / gas fitting

Course Outcome & Career Pathways

Air Con Course Outcome

Successful completion of the air conditioning course in Brisbane or at any one of our other training locations across Queensland will satisfy the requirements of the Restricted Split System Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning Licence.

This will allow you to install and decommission split system air conditioners under 18kW including wall hung, ducted, floor and ceiling mounted units.

If you obtain your refrigerant handling licence, you will be open to further study opportunities. See below for more details.

Career Pathways

On completion of the split system air conditioning course at one of our delivery locations, you may undertake further studies to gain additional qualifications.
